Our Story
We are just a couple of high school sweethearts that have seen quiet a few highs and lows in life. We started dating in high school in January of 1998. A short time after that we got married in December of 2000. In 2004, we were beyond excited to receive the news that we would be having a baby girl. In April 2005 we welcomed our Princess Elexis into the world. Life was going great.
Things were going great, the job, the house, the lifestyle that we wanted, the friends, the weekends, it was all we wanted. One of our big desires was to have another child. After years of waiting and wanting, we found out that we were pregnant again. I'll never forget the excitement that we had, but watching the excitement that Lexi had was so awesome. She couldn't wait to be a big sister.
The time came for the 20 week ultrasound that would determine whether she would have a baby brother or a baby sister. Little did we know that it would be a day that changed our lives forever. I remember the Dr. walking in with a look on his face that didn't match his typical, fun, upbeat self. And then he gave us the news. He said, its a boy....BUT. He said that the baby did not have a bladder and did not have kidneys. He said it was called Potter's syndrome. Of course we asked the questions of what does that mean, will he be ok, what do we need to do. All the while we sat there devastated.
He let us know there wasn't much he could do and wanted us to go see a specialist in Little Rock. We went to the appointment hoping for different news, but we got the same news and the same report. Except this time we received the recommendation to abort the pregnancy. And although we didn't have a relationship with God or go to church, we knew that it wasn't right, so we said absolutely not.
We got back in our car to make the long drive back home. As we were driving home the thought came into our minds to call my cousins Roger and Shennia. We needed something, we needed someone, we needed prayer and we knew that they loved and served God, so we called them. They immediately invited us to their house no matter how late it would be. We showed up after the long drive and walked in their house. They loved on us through our brokenness, and comforted us the best they could. I remember thinking and feeling that we wanted prayers for our baby to be healed. We weren't looking for a relationship with God and we weren't looking for a church, we were looking for healing.
After they prayed with us and for us, they invited us to join them that coming Sunday at church. They said you should come with us and check out the Healing place. Later that evening at home, we decided that we would go and check it out. As we walked into that church, we were met with a love like we had never felt before. A Pastor's wife approaching us loving two people she had never seen, leaning down kissing and blessing Aubrey's feet. A worship team that immediately stopped practicing to welcome us into their arms and prayed over us. And Jesus, that was there waiting to wrap His Loving arms around us.
That day changed our lives forever. God continued to pour His Love, Peace, Joy, Grace and Mercy over us each and every day. Our prayer began to shift, from Lord heal our baby boy, to Lord let Your Will be done! The Lord began doing a work in our lives like we never expected. He gave us the name Isaiah for our Baby Boy. He was carried full term, and on November 17th, 2010 we welcomed Isaiah into the world. He lived with us for one hours before returning home to His heavenly Father. I've told many people, that God let us hold a very special angel.
Although we didn't see the healing in Isaiah that we had hoped for, there was a healing and a work that God had done and is still doing inside of us. A few years went by and in our hearts we wanted and hoped for another baby. As time went on it just didn't seem like it was going to happen. The enemy kept telling us lies after lies about how we wouldn't have another child. And one day, we took a stand and began speaking the Truth and the Word of God over our lives, and shortly after we found out that we were pregnant.
The enemy threw every jab of fear at us that he could as the 20 week ultrasound approached. We went in and began the ultrasound, and without the lady even knowing our story, she was very quick to point out the Bladder and Kidneys. God knew exactly where to guide her hands to ease our hearts. and then we found out that we were having a Baby Boy. We walked out of their full of joy and excitement, and full of the Love of God.
As Aubrey prayed to the Lord, she asked Him to name this Child. He spoke the name Jeremiah to her. It never dawned on us at first, but when we opened my Bible to the about section of the Book of Jeremiah, it said that he was the Prophet that followed Isaiah.
Our lives have been completely changed forever. Our hearts burn to serve the Lord in any way that He calls us. Our desire is for the hurting, the broken, the lost, those without Hope, to meet Jesus and receive Him. We have given our lives to Jesus and we just surrender everything we have and everything that we are to Serve Him! Here we Are Lord, Send US!
